Rhinoplasty is undoubtedly one of the most commonly performed plastic surgeries. The procedure transforms the nose permanently and effectively, allowing patients to sport a new look that better suits their aesthetic preferences. Though there are many benefits to undergoing a rhinoplasty, less permanent, expensive, and dramatic results can be obtained to alter the look of the nose.

A non-surgical rhinoplasty, also termed a liquid rhinoplasty, is performed through a series of injections of biocompatible filler material, such as Radiesse, Juvederm, Perlane, and Restylane. With the exception of Radiesse, these dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid and are used to plump the skin. The treatments can accomplish a number of objectives:

  • Narrow noses are made to appear slightly wider to better suit the face shape
  • Nasal humps are camouflaged
  • Droopy tips are raised
  • Skin and nasal tissue irregularities and imperfections are improved

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Surgery Options

The results of the injections can be enjoyed from six to twelve months following the treatment. The biocompatible material may need to be injected one or two times per year, depending how each patient’s skin responds. Dr. Batniji may be able to offer patients additional dermal fillers or more permanent solutions, depending on a patient’s specific requests.

It is important to note that although a number of changes can be visually created, the structure of the nose is not altered. The overall size of the nose will remain the same, as will the structure of the nostrils. Liquid rhinoplasty is offered to patients who are interested in seeing minor changes that enhance the existing nose without the involvement of surgery.

A non-surgical rhinoplasty costs a fraction of what a patient may pay to receive a traditional cosmetic nose surgery. Of course, repeat treatments are needed in order to maintain the results whereas the results of nose surgery are typically permanent. The injections are also much faster to perform. A patient may be treated topically with an anesthetic, but there is no need for one to be unconscious as the level of discomfort is minimal.

The modified nose evolves into the final shape over a time period of twelve to eighteen months following a surgical nose job, whereas the results of a liquid rhinoplasty are available immediately. There may be some initial swelling or light bruising following the session, but these minor side effects will fade within a few days. Downtime, which is part of the aftermath of nearly any surgery, is unnecessary when a patient has been treated with any time of cosmetic dermal filler.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty can be an excellent way to achieve your look for an upcoming engagement or even to preview the possibilities of surgery. If you’re looking or more dramatic, long-lasting results, however, surgery may be a better option.
