Dr. Rami K. Batniji
Specialist Facial Rejuvenation
As the son of an Otolaryngologist, Dr. Rami K. Batniji was exposed to a career in medicine at a very young age. While at Williams College, Dr. Batniji completed his premedical courses but also used his time in college to major in History and study other areas of interest, such as Art History, and play baseball at the collegiate level. During medical school and Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery residency, Dr. Batniji was drawn to facial plastic surgery because it is such meticulous work and requires careful attention to detail. It’s the perfect blend of his childhood passions for science and art. In terms of a career choice, being a facial plastic surgeon enables him to help individuals ‘reconstruct’ areas of their face that have been affected by trauma or serious illness as well as provide options for people who would like to make aesthetic changes for more personal reasons (e.g. corrective surgery, youthful look).
Dr. Batniji is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as the American Board of Otolaryngology. He limits his practice exclusively to facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. The most common surgical procedures Dr. Batniji performs as a plastic surgeon include rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, facelift, necklift, and blepharoplasty. As well, he performs reconstructive surgery, including skin cancer reconstruction, laceration repairs, and facial fracture repairs.
Dr. Batniji remains active with his professional society, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), serving as CME Chairman. He was selected by the President of the AAFPRS to revamp the curriculum and requirements of the AAFPRS fellowship programs. Additionally, he directs several meetings, including the Facial Rejuvenation meeting of the AAFPRS to be held in Beverly Hills in March 2016. He has lectured on several topics in facial plastic surgery, both nationally (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, Boston, New York) and internationally (England, France, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, and Switzerland). He serves on advisory boards and as consultant to various medical device and pharmaceutical companies. One of Dr. Batniji’s greatest professional and personal experiences has been the opportunity to work with and, occasionally operate with, his father, Dr. Kamal Batniji. For example, Dr. Rami Batniji performs a facelift-type incision for Dr. Kamal Batniji’s parotid cancer patients, thus minimizing the potential defect and scars that result from parotidectomy.
