Lip Reshaping in Newport Beach and Beverly Hills

Newport Beach Lip ReshapingAs we age, the appearance of the lips may change. They may thin and begin to sag at the corners, and lines may develop around the mouth and obscure the skin-lip border. Thin lips can also be hereditary. Lip augmentation involves several techniques which can restore fullness and rejuvenate the lips for a more youthful, natural appearance.

There are a variety of options available for improving the lip appearance including skin resurfacing, injectable therapy, lip advancement, the subnasal lip lift, and the corner of the mouth lift. Surgical lip augmentation techniques provide more lasting results than injectable options, however they require a certain skill and artistry from the surgeon. Dr. Batniji is a board certified facial plastic surgeon who has dedicated the whole of his career to facial plastic surgery and beautifying the face. He is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and by the American Board of Otolaryngology. Dr. Batniji is an expert at creating beautiful, natural lip augmentation results.

Depending on the particular technique used, your lip reshaping procedure may take place in Dr. Batniji’s Newport Beach, California office or at one of the many fully accredited outpatient surgery centers or hospitals in Southern California with which Dr. Batniji is affiliated. Dr. Batniji is happy to discuss all of your options for lip augmentation in more detail at the time of consultation. However, some of the more common techniques are as follows:

Skin resurfacing

There are several skin resurfacing techniques which may be used to improve the lip appearance. They are most often used for treating the fine lines around the mouth. Dr. Batniji commonly uses chemical peels, CO2 laser therapy and fractionated laser therapy for this purpose.

Juvederm®

Juvederm® is an injectable filler comprised of hyaluronic acid and it can be used in a variety of ways to improve the lip appearance. This filler can plump the lips by increasing volume, enhance the pout of the lips, restore the Cupid’s bow, and improve fine lines and creases in and around the lips. Juvederm® may also be used to improve marionette lines, as well as a downward turn to the corners of the mouth which may impart a sad, angry or tired appearance. A dental block or local anesthesia may be used during treatment to maximize the patient’s comfort. Results are natural and last an average of four to six months.

Thank you so much for making my daughter even more beautiful. You are such a wonderful doctor and I am so glad we found you.

Lip Advancement

Lip advancement is a surgical technique for improving thin lips. Results are more permanent than those achieved with injectable fillers. During the surgery, Dr. Batniji excises a strip of skin at the lip border to achieve a fuller lip appearance.

Subnasal Lip Lift

In cases where the upper lip has lengthened over time or due to heredity, making the upper teeth incisors less visible, a subnasal lip lift may be recommended. This procedure shortens the length of the upper lip and increases the show or visible appearance of the upper teeth, especially when smiling. During surgery, Dr. Batniji will remove a small strip of skin from the junction of the nose and upper lip in order to lift the upper lip. Results are very natural with incisions well concealed in the crease between the upper lip and nose. This procedure can be done quickly and conveniently at his Newport Beach surgical center.

Botox®

Botox® can be used to improve a downward turn to the corners of the mouth which may make a person appear sad, angry or tired. Botox® is injected in small amounts directly into the muscle responsible for the downward pull. Results are very natural and last an average of four to six months.

Corner of the Mouth Lift

The Corner of the Mouth Lift is a surgical procedure which can provide a more permanent solution to a downward turn to the corner of the mouth than injectable fillers. Local anesthesia is commonly used. During surgery, Dr. Batniji carefully places the incisions above the corners of the mouth to ensure minimal scarring and then lifts the corners.
