Are you worried you might get mistaken for that cooked bird laid out on the dinner table this Thanksgiving? When you lose the definition in your profile and jaw, while gaining wrinkles, loose skin, and other unwanted features you may gain what is commonly referred to as a turkey neck. And some people are more prone to this condition than others, depending on the hereditary traits they inherited. So if you look around the table during Thanksgiving dinner and see some other turkeys sitting with you, it might run in the family.

The Procedure

A necklift is designed to address and fix that turkey neck. It removes excess skin and fat in the neck, and neck muscle bands, with a direct incision. To minimize tension on the skin, and elongate the incision, a Z-plasty closure is performed. This improves neck skin laxity, allows the skin to move more naturally, and makes the incision less noticeable. The incisions are hidden behind the ear and underneath the chin. A neck liposuction will also be performed to tighten the neck muscles and the skin of the neck. Through this procedure, you will be able to achieve a more youthful neck contour.

Recovery

Normal activity can resumed within seven to 10 days. The doctor may prescribe some restrictions. It is important that you are evaluated by a knowledgeable surgeon who is experienced with these procedures. Here are some of before and after pictures of the procedure.
