I have pouches under my eyes that make me look tired all of the time. I read that this is fat. I would like blepharoplasty to remove this fat. Will all of the fat be removed? Is any of the skin removed?

There are some medical conditions that may cause your lower eyelid pouches, including allergies and thyroid disorders. Otherwise, the most common cause for your lower eyelid pouches is fat. You may also have a hollow region between the pouch and the cheek. This hollow region is referred to as infrao-orbital hollows, nasojugal groove, or tear trough deformity. In most patients who have the pouch of fat in the lower eyelids and a hollowness, I prefer to re-position the fat from the area of fullness to the area of hollowness. This procedure, referred to as fat transposition, provides a more youthful contour between the lower eyelids and cheek. During this procedure, a small amount of skin may be trimmed, if necessary.
