I had a mini, smas neck and face lift and lip enhancement with smas. I do not like my lips.. my smile is not as wide and I can’t show my teeth like I use to. Can the material be removed if not satified with the results soon after the initial surgery?

Catherine,
Thank you for your inquiry.

The changes you are experiencing may be related to swelling after the procedure. If this is the case, then you may find improvement in the appearance of your smile with time as the swelling subsides.

I prefer to use hyaluronic acid fillers rather than SMAS when performing lip augmentation for a variety of reasons, one of which is the fact that hyaluronic acid fillers are easily reversible with injection of an enzyme, hyaluronidase. That said, if you find the changes in the appearance of your smile persist despite resolution of the swelling, one may consider a surgical procedure to attempt to remove the SMAS from the lip.
