Hello,

I am interested in potential scar revision. On the center of my forehead, I have a diagonal scar that resembles the shape of a canoe. it is about 3/8″ long and about 1/4″ wide in the middle and I am wondering if you could help to make it look better or at least make the “canoe” into more of simple straight line. I’ve tried laser before and while it did “fill in” the scar’s indent a bit, it didn’t really diminish the outline of the scar. Wasted money, I think.

In the summer I look almost two toned sometimes as the color of my skin when tan really makes the scar’s color stand out. And…frankly, i’m just sick of looking at it in the mirror in the morning. I’ve been told that a good facial plastic surgeon could help so that’s why i’m inquiring here.

Thank you in advance for your answer.

Dear Jesse,

Thank you for your inquiry.

Scar revision procedures can include non-surgical options, like laser resurfacing that you have already tried.

Surgical options include removing the widened/noticeable scar and replacing it with a thinner/less noticeable scar. We use a variety of techniques to achieve this result.

As you may know, scars take approximately 6-12 months to fully mature. After your procedure for scar revision, we use a variety of methods to improve the results. Some include silicone-based scar medication, taping, sunscreen. Others include injection of steroid and Botox.

I would like to invite you for consultation so that I may evaluate you and make further recommendations. Please contact my office at 949.650.8882 to schedule your consultation.

I look forward to the opportunity to meet you.

Sincerely,

Rami K. Batniji, M.D., F.A.C.S.
