Revision Rhinoplasty

Newport Beach | Beverly Hills, CA

Introduction

Conveniently located to serve Newport Beach, Beverly Hills, and Orange County.

Rhinoplasty is one of the most technically demanding procedures in facial plastic surgery, and even when performed well, not every outcome meets a patient’s expectations. In other cases, changes in healing or structural support can affect both appearance and function over time.

Revision rhinoplasty is designed to address these concerns. Whether the goal is to refine aesthetic results, restore structural integrity, or improve breathing, this procedure requires a thoughtful and highly individualized approach.

With Dr. Batniji, revision rhinoplasty is approached with precision and restraint, focusing on restoring balance while working within the limitations of previously operated tissue.

What is a Revision Rhinoplasty?

Revision rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure used to correct problems of an aesthetic and/or functional nature resulting from a primary rhinoplasty surgery. Patients may be unhappy with the overall appearance of the nose or with certain features.

Commonly addressed issues include asymmetry, the presence of a callus or bump, a polly beak deformity, a pinched tip, an over- or under-projected tip, an over-operated look, and excessive scarring.

Revision rhinoplasty can be one of the most difficult plastic surgery procedures to perform, often requiring both technical and artistic skill. Based in Newport Beach and Beverly Hills, Southern California, Dr. Batniji has extensive experience in revision rhinoplasty and in correcting problems resulting from prior rhinoplasty surgeries performed by other surgeons.

Dr. Batniji specializes in facial plastic surgery and is board-certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and by the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is well known for creating beautiful, natural-looking rhinoplasty results.

Good Candidates for a Revision Rhinoplasty?

Revision rhinoplasty is appropriate for healthy men and women seeking to improve the appearance and/or function of their nose following prior rhinoplasty. Candidates should have reasonable expectations for improvement. Non-smokers are preferred, and smokers will need to quit before the date of their procedure.

What Are the Benefits of a Revision Rhinoplasty?

  • Improves unsatisfactory results from prior surgery
  • Restores natural shape and balance to the nose
  • Corrects structural issues that may affect breathing
  • Refines asymmetry, irregularities, or overcorrection
  • Rebuilds support using advanced grafting techniques

What’s the First Step?

Your consultation is especially important in revision rhinoplasty. Dr. Batniji will evaluate your current nasal structure, review your surgical history, and discuss your goals in detail. Because revision procedures are more complex, this step helps determine what changes are realistically achievable and how best to approach them.

A Breakdown of a Westernization Rhinoplasty Surgery

Your revision rhinoplasty surgery may be performed at a surgery center or a hospital in Newport Beach or Beverly Hills. Dr. Batniji is affiliated with several accredited outpatient surgery centers and hospitals, including Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital.

Dr. Batniji regularly performs procedures at Fashion Island Surgical Center (easily accessible from Corona Del Mar) and at Newport Beach Surgery Center, right off the Pacific Coast Highway. He also performs procedures at Beverly Hills Surgical Center, located near Rodeo Drive.

The exact nature of the surgery will depend on your individual circumstances. Some patients may require a small touch-up, while others may require more extensive reconstruction. Local anesthesia with sedation, or general anesthesia, may be used.

The location of the incisions will depend on the extent of your surgery. Many revision rhinoplasty cases are performed using an open technique, in which a small incision is made across the skin between the nostrils. In some cases, a closed technique may be used, in which all incisions are confined to the inside of the nostrils.

Often, revision becomes necessary due to the over-aggressive removal of cartilage and/or bone during primary rhinoplasty. For this reason, many revision rhinoplasty procedures require Dr. Batniji to recreate missing structures using grafts created from the patient’s own cartilage, which can be harvested from the septum, ear, or rib.

What Should I Expect Immediately After the Surgery?

A splint is applied to the nose after revision rhinoplasty surgery in Beverly Hills and will remain in place for approximately 1 week. Most patients can return to work and other non-strenuous activities within about one week.

Post-surgical bruising and swelling will be present. About 70% to 85% of the swelling should fade within one month, with the remainder resolving over time. To decrease swelling, patients should keep their head elevated at all times and should apply an ice pack as directed.

Your Guide to Post-Revision Rhinoplasty Care

What Post-Care Regimen Should I Follow?

Recovery after revision rhinoplasty is similar to primary rhinoplasty but may require closer monitoring.

Patients are typically advised to:

  • Keep the head elevated
  • Avoid strenuous activity

  • Follow all post-operative care instructions carefully
  • Avoid smoking and alcohol
  • Swelling may take longer to fully resolve compared to primary rhinoplasty.

How Much Does a Revision Rhinoplasty Cost in Newport Beach and Beverly Hills, CA?

Revision rhinoplasty is generally more complex than primary rhinoplasty, which can affect cost. The cost of a revision rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills and Newport Beach varies based on the extent of correction required, surgical time, and whether grafting is needed.

A personalized consultation is the best way to determine the exact cost.

Why Choose Batniji Facial Plastic Surgery for a Revision Rhinoplasty?
