If the nasal bones are fractured during a nose job, does the recovery and healing take longer?
If the nasal bones need to be re-positioned during rhinoplasty, you may experience more swelling and bruising after surgery. However, the overall healing process of the nose does not change dramatically. We inform rhinoplasty patients that a significant amount of swelling resolves in the first month after surgery; however, it does take 6-12 months for final refinement of the nasal tip.

Where is the fat harvested for use in a facial fat transfer? Is the procedure invasive?
Fat is usually harvested from the abdomen. Occasionally, patients desire body contouring (liposuction). I work with a board certified plastic surgeon who performs the body contouring procedure; he then provides me with the fat. I process the fat and re-inject it into areas of the face.

HomeArticles I am 52 years old from Orange County, and look tired all of the time due to the dark bags under my eyes. It feels like fatty tissue. I would like the fat removed. Can this be accomplished with gentle liposuction or is blepharoplasty necessary?
Liposuction for the bags underneath the eyes is not a good option due to (amonth other things) thinness of skin, risk of contour irregularity, and injury to important anatomic structures. HomeArticles How often are chin implants combined with rhinoplasty when you want to improve an overprojected nose?
During the initial consultation, I examine the nose and how the nose relates to the other facial features. It is important to assess facial harmony and balance. I have patients who come to me for a rhinoplasty to address an over-projected nose (Pinocchio is a classic example of an over-projected nose). However, during the initial consultation and my evaluation, I may notice the patient has a very small chin. On profile, a small chin will make a nose appear bigger. Sometimes, this is difficult […]
HomeArticles I had upper eyelid blepharoplasty performed several years ago. Now I notice a hollowness of my upper eyelids. What can be done about this?
In upper blepharoplasty, sometimes fat is removed from the upper eyelid. While this may initially provide a nice result, one potential issue that may occur over time is hollowness of the upper eyelid. For this reason, I seldom remove fat from the upper eyelid when I perform upper blepharoplasty…thus maintaining a youthful appearance to the upper eyelid. It sounds like you may have had fat removed from the upper eyelid at the time of your surgery. […]

Yes, the implant can either be modified or removed and replaced. If removed and replaced, the question is what should we replace the implant with? Options include a similar implants as you previously had. Another option is using your own cartilage, from the rib, with a covering of temporalis fascia, to achieve the desired result. […]
