HomeArticles I’m from Newport Beach and interested in getting a nose job. I’ve been looking through magazines to get an idea of what I would like my nose to look like. If I find a picture I really like, is it possible to make my nose look just like it?
When you come to see me for a consultation to discuss rhinoplasty, we start the conversation with your concerns regarding the appearance of your nose and what changes you hope to achieve through the procedure. Sometimes, photos of other noses may allow for us to both get a sense of your […]

I’m 27, Asian, and I’d like to get a nose job. I heard that the nose grows and changes as you get older. Is this true? What does this mean for the results of the nose job then?
The nose does change over time. For example, the nasal tip support mechanisms may weaken over time, thus giving the appearance of a longer nose with a droopy nasal tip. During rhinoplasty, we use techniques to maintain, and sometimes enhance, those tip support mechanisms.

HomeArticles For the cheek lift, where are the incisions made? I understand that you’re doing work in the cheek area as well as the temple area. Does this mean that incisions are made in both areas?
An isolated cheek lift incorporates an incision in the temple, under the lower eyelid, and occasionally inside the mouth. Sometimes, patients may benefit from a facelift/necklift in conjunction with a cheek lift. In these patients, I perform a specific type of facelift, called a high-SMAS facelift, that not only addresses the neck and lower face, but also the cheek. These incisions are hidden within the […]
HomeArticles What sort of results can I expect from eyelid surgery?
I perform upper eyelid and lower eyelid surgery. The indications for upper eyelid surgery include laxity of upper lid skin resulting in a hooded appearance of the upper lids. Trimming of this excess skin can result in a brighter, more open, appearance to the eyes. When it comes to lower lid surgery, there are several factors that play into the type of surgery and the expectations. For example, some patients may present with fullness of the lower lids, a crease or hollowness between the cheeks and lower lids, and a […]
HomeArticles I’m from Newport Beach and I have a very noticeable twisted nose due to breaking it when I was younger. How is this fixed?
A twisted nose is corrected with surgery. This surgery usually incorporates rhinoplasty (changing the appearance of the nose) as well as addressing a deviated nasal septum (septoplasty). Sometimes insurance may cover a portion of the procedure. A twisted nose may be due to a variety of factors, including asymmetry of the nasal bones, deviated nasal septum, asymmetries of the nasal cartilages. Furthermore, a twisted nose may be a reflection of further facial asymmetries…a proper facial analysis […]
HomeArticles How long after a laser skin resurfacing procedure will I be free of any visible side effects?
It depends. If you have severe facial lines, wrinkles, and sun-damaged skin, you would benefit from a more intense laser resurfacing which may result a social downtime of approximately 7-10 days and some redness to the skin lasting approximately 6 weeks after the procedure; this redness is well hidden with makeup after that 7-10 day period. If the lines/wrinkles/sun-damage is not severe and/or you are looking for a shorter social downtime, we can perform a less intense treatment, resulting in a much shorter […]
HomeArticles I would like the fat transfer procedure to fill out my cheeks. Do you overfill the area expecting it to reduce over time? Can the crow’s feet around my eyes be treated with fat transfer as well?
Fat transfer to the cheeks is a wonderful way to achieve volume in volume-depleted areas. Do I overfill the area? That depends on your preference. We anticipate loss of some volume within the first year of the procedure. The amount of volume loss is variable and dependent upon several factors such as method within which fat is harvested and patient-specific issues such as […]
HomeArticles I am a 32-year-old female from Newport Beach and I’m interested in a chin implant. Do you have a system that does computerized pictures of what you would look like after the procedure? I really would like to have this done but am quite nervous about the results.
We use imaging software to assist in the evaluation of potential outcomes of facial plastic surgery. This is a wonderful tool when evaluating a patient who is considering a chin implant. Through the use of this imaging software, we are able to more closely analyze the profile view and the relationship of […]
HomeArticles I’ve heard that ethnic rhinoplasty is more challenging. Is this true of ethnic revision rhinoplasty?
Ethnic rhinoplasty is a challenge due to various factors inherent in the ethnic patient and ethnic nose. First and foremost, an understanding of the desired aesthetic goal is paramount. Once this understanding is achieved in the context of the individual’s ethnic background, facial features, and desires, the next step is the analysis. Ethnic patients may have variable strengths of cartilage of the nose, variable lengths of the nasal bones, and variable thickness of the nasal skin; all these variables have implications in the rhinoplasty procedure. I am looking to have a combined rhinoplasty and septoplasty. What is the difference between having this done by an ENT vs. a plastic surgeon?
As a facial plastic surgeon with a background in ENT, we approach the nose to address both functional and aesthetic concerns. Doing both procedures at the same time is a good idea because we typically use cartilage taken from the septum at the time of the septoplasty to use for various grafts in rhinoplasty. These grafts are strategically-placed pieces of cartilage to improve function and/or achieve a desired aesthetic goal.
