Key Takeaways of the Page
Skin resurfacing procedures restore a smoother, more youthful appearance to the facial skin by improving wrinkles, scars, uneven pigmentation, sun damage, and other blemishes and imperfections. Skin resurfacing is appropriate for healthy men and women who have reasonable expectations for improving aging or damaged skin.
There are a variety of options available for skin resurfacing, including the VI Peel and other chemical peels, laser therapy, and dermabrasion. Depending upon the chosen treatment, your procedure may take place at Dr. Batniji’s office in Newport Beach, California, or it may be performed in one of Southern California’s fully accredited outpatient surgery centers or hospitals to which Dr. Batniji is affiliated.
Dr. Batniji commonly performs procedures at the Newport Beach Surgery Center, Beverly Hills Surgical Center, Fashion Island Surgical Center, and Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital. Some techniques require multiple treatments performed over a period of time.

Chemical Peel
Chemical peels peel away the top layers of damaged skin to reveal the undamaged new skin beneath. These chemical solutions can be performed in varying concentrations. Alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) peels are the mildest and may incorporate glycolic, lactic, or fruit acids. Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peels are generally performed as a medium-depth peel, while phenol peels are the strongest.
Traditional Laser Treatments
Traditional laser treatments like the CO2 and YAG lasers can remove thin, aged, and sun-damaged layers of skin tissue. Fine lines and wrinkles are reduced and acne is improved, rejuvenating damaged skin. CO2 laser treatments are often considered the gold standard among laser technologies.
Fractionated Laser Technologies
Impressive results have been achieved with fractionated laser skin resurfacing, particularly in the treatment of fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage. A comprehensive skincare regimen is incorporated before and after treatment, which helps to enhance overall results while minimizing downtime. At our office, we use the DEKA DOT CO2 Laser.
The DEKA DOT system, preferred by board-certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Rami Batniji, is one of the most innovative and safe technologies used for skin resurfacing and rejuvenation. It is often a non-surgical option to treat wrinkles, sun damage, scars, and other skin conditions by jumpstarting the body’s natural skin regeneration process. Patients have the option of doing this procedure in the office or during surgery.
Microneedling with PRP / Exosomes
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that involves poking microchannels into the skin to initiate the production of collagen and elastin. The microneedling procedure is sometimes referred to as collagen induction therapy. PRP, which stands for platelet-rich plasma, is created using a small amount of the patient’s blood. The platelets and plasma in the blood are separated from the red and white blood cells to form PRP, which contains several growth factors for improved healing and decreased inflammation. Exosomes can also be used during microneedling to speed up recovery time and calm inflammation. Other topical solutions can be used during this procedure such as tranexamic acid and neuromodulator to address specific skin concerns.
Sylfirm X: Microneedling with Radiofrequency (RF)
Sylfirm X Microneedling uses pulse wave technology to precisely target capillaries and pigmentation as well as skin rejuvenation and regeneration. This procedure works to firm and tighten the skin and is safe for most skin types. Microneedling RF is commonly used to enhance and maintain optimal skin quality before and after a surgical facelift for a longer-lasting result.
MOXI™
Moxi is a quick, non-ablative fractionated laser with minimal downtime used to target pigmentation, tone, and texture of the skin. Micro-coagulation zones are created in the skin, also known as “mends”, which will surface and later be replaced by new, healthy skin cells. This procedure is cleared for all skin types.
BBL HEROic
BBL, also known as broad-band light, is best to treat sun damage, age spots, freckles, and cherry angiomas. It can also be used to improve other skin concerns such as acne and rosacea. Makeup can be applied immediately post-procedure. BBL is often used in conjunction with Moxi to enhance overall results. This procedure is safe for select skin types.
