Do any of the non-surgical facelift alternatives provide results as long lasting as a traditional facelift?
There are several non-surgical facelift alternatives available to the market. Some of these alternatives use heat in the form of lasers, ultrasound, or radiofrequency to create collagen reformation and thus tightening of the skin. The questions that remain to be answered with these modalities include: how long do they last and how many treatments are needed to create and maintain an appreciable result? Further studies need to be performed to answer these questions.

HomeGeneral I recently had an eyelid lift, and now I am having difficulties opening and closing my eyes. Is this a temporary side effect? If not, how can this be remedied?
Following an eyelid lift (also known as upper blepharoplasty), the eyelids may become swollen. This swelling may result in difficulty with opening and closing the eyes. As the swelling resolves, so will this difficulty. During this period of difficulty, it is important to keep the eyes properly hydrated with artificial tear drops throughout the day and eye ointment before sleeping. One potential risk of eyelid surgery is an inability to […]

I broke my nose when I was a kid and the lump left behind has always been bothersome. Would a nose job be a smart choice in fixing such an old problem?
A rhinoplasty would be a nice option to address the deformities caused by a previous nasal trauma. If you have other injuries related to the nasal fracture (a deviated nasal septum, for example), then the procedure may improve your nasal airway as well.

HomeGeneral I am 35 years old, female and have a different sort of problem. I have very long, wobbly earlobes. This makes wearing pierced earrings impossible because it draws attention to the lobes. Is this a problem that can be fixed? I have never heard of earlobe repair and hope that you can do it.
You have 2 options for earlobe repair. One is to make the earlobe smaller by removing excess tissue from the earlobe. Another option is the injection of filler material (hyaluronic acid) into the earlobe to make it stiffer; however, this option does not make the earlobe […]

HomeGeneral I am 52 years old and look tired all of the time due to the dark bags under my eyes. It feels like fatty tissue. I would like the fat removed. Can this be accomplished with gentle liposuction or is blepharoplasty necessary?
If the dark bags are due to fatty tissue, then a blepharoplasty would be a good option. Liposuction of the lower eyelid fat may result in contour irregularities as the skin of the lower eyelid is very thin. During lower blepharoplasty, I like to preserve some of that fatty tissue and re-position it at the junction between the […]

Do you recommend any skin care products to prepare the skin prior to a chemical peel or laser resurfacing?
We recommend sunblock. As well, studies show that treatment of the skin with a bleaching cream and a retinol may benefit those patients with darker skin complexion.

HomeGeneral What sort of complications do you encounter most often with the brow lift and how do you address them?
Bruising and swelling may occur after brow lift surgery. We recommend you avoid aspirin, aspirin-containing products, ibuprofen, ibuprofen-containing products, and certain homeopathic/herbal medicines that may increase the risk of bleeding, bruising, and swelling. High blood pressure may increase the risk of bleeding, hematoma formation, and bruising; if you have a history of high blood pressure, we recommend you consult your primary care physician to gain proper control of the blood pressure prior to surgery. Headaches and nausea may occur after surgery. […]

Does a facelift remove deep folds that run from each side of my nose to the corners of my mouth?
The folds you are referring to are the smile lines, also known as the melolabial folds and/or nasolabial folds. Facelift surgery usually does not remove these folds. The better option for treating these folds include injectable filler.
