HomeGeneral For those from warmer and sunnier climates, a ski trip to the mountains can be a much needed relief from the sun and heat. You may think that this time in the snow may also be a break from your usual skin care regimen, but that is not the way to go. You should continue to take care of your skin, especially in the winter.
If you have never been to a cold climate before, it may be a good idea to see a physician to discuss how your skin may react to the environment. He or she may be […]
HomeGeneral There are multiple reasons why people have nose surgeries. They could be for cosmetic reasons, to improve breathing, or a mixture of both. After surgery, though, all rhinoplasty patients share similar needs for recovery. Adhering to the following instructions will help you get to a fast and safe recovery, maximize your results, and help to prevent you from needing corrective surgery to fix problems associated with improper healing.
Avoid vigorous exercise for at least two weeks. This includes exercises that contain aggressive movements like jumping up and down. As you ease back into exercise and sports, be especially careful with […]
HomeGeneral Most people don’t realize it, but your ears are one of the most visible parts of your body and it can be very obvious when they are damaged. Years of wearing heavy earrings and mistakes during piercing can often require cosmetic repair. Some people simply wish to have old holes closed, while others may want to change the shape of their earlobes. An earlobe repair can provide you with what you are looking for.
Before the Procedure
Patients should discuss with their physician their expectations for an earlobe repair. They should leave the consultation with an understanding of what will happen […]
HomeGeneral Many people have heard of eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, which improve aging conditions of the eye area, including sagging upper eyelids and puffy under-eye bags. However, there’s another, lesser-known form of eyelid surgery: Asian blepharoplasty. Also known as “double eyelid surgery”, this is a type of cosmetic surgery where the skin around the eye is reshaped with the purpose of creating an upper eyelid with a crease (double eyelid) from an eyelid that is naturally without a crease (single eyelid). Patients have this procedure to have a brighter, more aware look and to make it easier to apply eyeliner.

HomeGeneral In the past few years, more and more men are considering having cosmetic surgery. One of the most popular procedures among men is chin augmentation. Several studies have shown that American adults believe that strong jawlines make them look younger and make them seem more successful in the workplace. Many men desire a more prominent profile, and a chin implant can help to achieve that goal.
A person interested in having a chin implant should first seek out a board-certified facial plastic surgeon who is comfortable performing the procedure on men. Your physician will discuss how he or she will […]
HomeGeneral The medical risks associated with smoking are numerous–various cancers of the lungs and mouth, heart disease, and stroke can all be caused by years of tobacco use. A lesser-known result of smoking is premature wrinkling of the skin on the face and other parts of the body.
Smoking causes wrinkling because the nicotine found in cigarettes causes narrowing in the blood vessels in the outermost layers of the skin. Without adequate blood flow, the skin does not receive the oxygen and nutrients it needs for growth and regeneration. In addition, chemicals in tobacco smoke damage collagen. This reduces elasticity in […]

Is the incidence of skin cancer on the rise?
According to a recent study, the incidence of skin cancer may reach “epidemic” proportion. The study was published in the March 2010 issue of Archives of Dermatology. We recommend sun protection with a proper sunblock and re-application of the sunblock approximately every 2 hours while in the sun. Look for any skin lesions that may have changed color, shape, and/or have irregular borders. If you are ever concerned about a lesion on the face, call us for an appointment for further evaluation.

HomeGeneral Facelift Longevity
A facelift is a major surgical procedure and, as such, most patients expect the results to last longer than a less invasive procedure such as an injectable filler. On average, the results from facelifts can be seen for approximately 10 years. In order for the results to last as long as possible, patients can take precautions for their own skin maintenance.
Preventing Further Sun Damage
Direct skin exposure is damaging to the skin. Immediately following a facelift, the skin is sensitive to light. Patients should avoid direct sunlight and always wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.
Making Proper […]
HomeGeneral If your teenager asks you for a nose job for his or her birthday, you probably shouldn’t run down to the nearest plastic surgeon, but you also shouldn’t immediately deny their request. Rhinoplasty is the most common type of cosmetic surgery performed on teenagers. It is not unheard of for teens to return from summer break with a new nose or another cosmetic procedure done. Despite this, cosmetic surgery is a major decision for parent and child and the decision should not be taken lightly.
Is your child old enough for rhinoplasty? Girls should be at least 15 or 16 […]
HomeGeneral Injectable fillers and fat transfer are popular with patients seeking more volume in the face or the reversal of smile and frown lines. The difference between fat and synthetic fillers is sometimes unclear and it is advised that anyone considering facial fillers consult a physician for an accurate recommendation for their needs.
Fat Transfer
Fat transfer involves harvesting fat from one part of the body and injecting it into another. A major advantage of using transferred fat in the face is that it is extremely unlikely that the body will have any sort of negative reaction. Since fat is a part […]
