What is a Submentoplasty?
Submentoplasty is a surgical procedure that addresses excess fat, muscle laxity, and structural issues beneath the chin and along the upper neck. Unlike liposuction alone, which removes fat only, submentoplasty also tightens and repositions the underlying platysma muscle to create a smoother, more defined contour.
The procedure is performed through a small incision hidden beneath the chin. Through this incision, excess fat may be removed, the platysma muscle may be tightened or restructured, and the submental region may be sculpted to enhance jawline definition. Submentoplasty is especially effective for patients with banding, muscle separation, or early neck laxity who do not yet require a full neck lift.
