What is a Facelift (Rhytidectomy)?
A facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure performed at our clinic that aims to improve the face’s appearance by tightening the skin, reducing wrinkles and sagging, and restoring a more youthful look. Dr. Batniji can use a variety of facelift techniques to tailor the procedure to each patient’s needs.
A facelift is a surgical procedure designed to address visible signs of aging. A traditional facelift can be performed in a matter of hours, and you can return home the same day. The procedure is usually performed with sedation on an outpatient basis. In some cases, general anesthesia may be used instead. The procedure itself begins with general anesthesia, and incisions are made around the forehead, behind the ear, and inside the hairline. This procedure typically begins with an incision made in front of the ear, which then extends up into the hair or hairline and over to the front of the other ear.
Dr. Batniji then expertly lifts the skin to expose the underlying deep tissues and facial tissues. The extra skin is removed, and the underlying tissues are tightened for longer-lasting results. The skin is then carefully placed back over the tissues. The incisions are closed with the help of sutures. Dr. Batniji may place drainage tubes in the region to drain excess fluid. Bandages are applied to aid in healing.
The outcome of a facelift varies based on several factors, including the surgeon’s skill and the patient’s skin type and anatomy. The goal of the procedure is to provide a more refreshed, youthful appearance to the face.
