I feel like my cheeks have fallen with time and lost volume. Would a midface/cheek lift help?
Over time, volume of cheek tissues is lost. As well, the cheek sags. These changes may be addressed with a variety of techniques. One option is adding volume through injectable fillers. This is an in-office procedure to provide volume to the cheek region and the appearance of a more youthful cheek. Another option is a surgical midface lift. Through an incision within the hairline, the cheek tissues are elevated to a more youthful position.

What kind of lip reshaping procedures do you perform?
For fine lines/wrinkles around the lips, I perform skin resurfacing with a fractionated laser. Another potential treatment option for fine lines/wrinkles around the lips is filler augmentation with Juvederm.
For those patients who wish to have more volume to the lips, Juvederm is an excellent injectable filler option.
For patients who want a more permanent result, surgical options such as lip advancement or subnasal lip lift might be beneficial.
If the corners of the mouth are turned downwards, I like to lift the corner of the mouth with either injectable filler or surgery.

My eyebrows have fallen and are creating hooding of my upper eyelids. I am interested in a brow lift. How do you perform this procedure?
I perform a brow lift endoscopically through small incisions within the hairline. Prior to the surgery, I place Botox in the muscles that pull down the brow; I find that Botox in these muscles help maintain the elevated position of the eyebrows. If you have excess skin of the upper eyelids, you may benefit from an upper eyelid lift at the same time as the endoscopic brow lift.

Do you use Radiesse to fill the temple region?
The temple region is an area that may lose volume over time, thus giving a sunken-in appearance to the temples. Radiesse is an excellent filler and I use it for a variety of purposes. However, I prefer a hyaluronic acid for the temples as this product is softer and, I believe, gives a more natural result in the temples.

HomeArticles I had a rhinoplasty procedure about 4 days ago and I still have bruises around my eyes. Is this normal? How long should it take for the bruises to go away?
We do a variety of things to help minimize bruising. First, we want to avoid aspirin and ibuprofen-containing products 2 weeks before surgery as these increase the risk of bruising. Second, we want to avoid certain herbal medicines, such as Gingko Biloba, which may increase the risk of bruising. Third, we incorporate the use of certain herbal medicines, such as Arnica Montana, to help minimize bruising. Other herbal medicines […]
HomeArticles I would like to have a facelift, but do I need to have a necklift as well? Will it be too noticeable if I don’t also smooth out the wrinkles in my neck?
I perform facelifts alone and in conjunction with a necklift, depending upon what you desire and what would look most natural. If you only have jowl formation, then a facelift alone may suffice. However, if you have laxity of neck skin, neck muscle bands, and heaviness of the neck, then you may also benefit from a necklift at the same time. Both procedures complement each other well […]

I am 67-years-old and have very thin hair like my mother. I want to have a facelift, but will the scars be more noticeable since my hair will not be able to cover the incisions?
Even though you have thin hair, the incisions will be well concealed as theses incisions are meticulously designed to be well hidden within the natural creases of the ear.

HomeArticles I am a 71-year-old female and I had a facelift about 15 years ago. Once again I have noticed my skin has begun to sag and many wrinkles are returning to my face. Is it advisable to have another facelift? What are the complications associated with a second lift?
You might benefit from another facelift. A second facelift has the same risks as your first facelift; however, there are some other potential risks. For example, I have performed second facelifts on patients who had wide scars as a result of the first facelift that was performed by a different surgeon. […]
HomeArticles I take a regular multivitamin every day to promote good health for my body. In a few weeks I will be having a rhinoplasty; should I discontinue use of my vitamins? Does my doctor really need to know that I take such harmless pills before he can administer my anesthesia?
It is important for us to kno all the medicines (including over the counter medicines, herbs, vitamins), as some of these may increase the risk of bleeding during and after surgery. For a list of medicines to avoid (including aspirin and ibuprofen-containing products), please review our Pre-Operative Instructions located on […]
