Question:

I understand that for a facelift there will be stitches placed after the surgery to hold the skin in place. Do these stitches need to be removed by the doctor? How soon after my surgery will I go back for an appointment?

Answer:

I see all my patients the following day after a facelift. I usually place drains to evacuate any fluid collection that may tend to collect underneath the skin; I remove these drains on the 2nd or 3rd day after surgery. Although the majority of the skin sutures I use in facelift surgery are dissolvable, I do remove the sutures one week after surgery.
