Facelift

When performing a facelift, the incision is designed with meticulous attention to detail. In front of the ears, the incision follows the natural contours of the ear cartilage. I prefer using a post-tragal incision, which further camouflages the incision in front of the ear. This design, as well as the very careful suture technique, allows for a barely perceptible incision line as it is very nicely concealed along the natural curves of the ear in front of the ear. The incision follows the ear lobe and then goes behind the ear on the back surface of the ear and into the hairline. Again, in the operating room I use meticulous surgical technique to ensure that the incision line is very well concealed behind the ear as well as into the hairline. For example, at the time of closure, I make certain that the hairline matches up so that there is no discrepancy in the hairline following the incision. The incision line does not go along the hairline but rather into the hair, thus allowing it to be even further concealed. Based on these techniques, once all the incisions have healed, one can wear their hair in a ponytail and barely notice the incision line.
