Patient 1
Patient 1
This 43 year old female presented for evaluation of a lower lip mass. A biopsy performed by another physician demonstrated the mass to be consistent with squamous cell carcinoma. Dr. Rami Batniji's father, Dr. Kamal Batniji who is an Otolaryngologist-Head and Neck surgeon, performed the excision as well as neck dissection to remove lymph nodes associated with the cancer. Then, Dr. Rami Batniji performed the following reconstructive procedure:
- Right-sided Karapandzic flap
- Left-sided modified Webster-Burrow flap

The combination of these 2 flaps provided the patient with a fully functioning lower lip.

Patient 2
Patient 2
Following a Moh’s resection of a basal cell carcinoma, this woman presented to Dr. Batniji’s office for reconstruction. Using a combination of skin flaps from the nose and cheek, he was able to reconstruct the defect to provide a natural result with minimal scarring.

Patient 3
Patient 3
This patient presented to Dr. Batniji in consultation for evaluation of a non-healing lesion of the tip of the nose. Dr. Batniji performed a biopsy which demonstrated basal cell carcinoma. Therefore, Dr. Batniji removed the skin cancer, which went down to but did not include the cartilage of the nose. He then reconstructed the subsequent defect with a bilobed flap; this flap not only provides coverage of the defect but is also designed to allow for a natural result.
